Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers. We also provide contracting services to our partners - other network owners and operators across the North Island.
We have over 1,300 staff working together across 14 locations to keep the power on and the lights going for our customers.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Supervisor, your safety and that of others around you is your number one priority in this role. The work is varied and you’ll take part in the key construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical lines to our customer and network requirements. You’ll also:

  • Assist with work plans and ensure that relevant field paperwork is completed as necessary
  • Install and replace electricity network pole structure and overhead conductors
  • Pulling up new line builds for subdivisions requested by our clients

You’ll be working on a variety of exciting projects and may have to do some occasional weekend work. To be successful in this role, it is essential to have the following:

  • NZ or overseas qualification equivalent to Level 4 (required to work on the Vector Network) or relevant trade trainings.
  • Current NZ EWRB Practicing licence or the ability to apply for one
  • At least two years’ solid experience under your belt
  • A valid Class 2 driver’s licence, Class 4 licence (preferable not essential)
  • A great work attitude and willingness to be part of a diverse team along with a strong focus to health & safety
  • Ability to communicate and work under minimum supervisio
