Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Supervisor, your safety and that of others around you is your number one priority in this role. The work is varied, and you’ll be an integral part of a field-based team undertaking the construction and maintenance of electrical lines to customer, Network and Northpower requirements. You’ll also:

  • Assist with work plans and ensure that relevant field paperwork is completed as necessary
  • Install and replace electricity network pole structure and overhead conductors
  • Ensure the reliability of reconductoring the network
  • Assist with Overhead to Underground conversions
  • Ensure all work meets required quality and safety standards
  • Complete tasks within set time frames in an efficient and professional manner

You’ll be working on a variety of exciting projects and may have to do some occasional weekend work. You will have a natural flair in building and maintaining effective customer relations, be a self-motivator and take initiative where needed . To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • NZ Certificate or overseas qualification equivalent to Level 4 (required to work on the Vector Network) or relevant trade trainings
  • Current NZ EWRB Practicing licence (Line Mechanic) is essential
  • At least two years’ solid experience under your belt with knowledge of electrical principles
  • A valid Class 2 driver’s licence is essential , Current HT Class 4 licence would be an advantage
  • Strong safety focus with a consistently excellent record on safety and quality standards
  • Physical fitness required to perform at ease
  • A great work attitude and comfortable being a part of a diverse team in a multicultural environment
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Enjoy working in team environments, yet able to work self-directed, under minimum supervisio
