Job Description
AECOM offers an exciting career opportunity for a Linear Infrastructure Assessment and Rehabilitation Lead within our Infrastructure Services Group in Ontario, Canada.
The Infrastructure Services Group is part of AECOM’s Global Water team delivering projects throughout the conveyance market including municipal and industrial water systems, stormwater and wastewater collection systems. Our services include the analysis, design and contract administration for all of these systems and the specialized technical practices of Linear Infrastructure Condition Assessment, Rehabilitation, Hydraulic Analysis and Modelling, System Optimization, Operational Studies/Improvements and Asset Management. AECOM is providing ongoing support to every major municipality and all regional governments in Ontario. In addition, we provide specialized services in support of AECOM’s projects across the world.

This role can be based out of any of our offices within the Greater Toronto Area. The Lead will support the Group Manager and Project Manager(s) in developing technical solutions to complex water, wastewater and storm rehabilitation projects. As a subject matter expert and accomplished communicator, the Technical Lead will:

  • Provide clear and focused technical leadership, strategic oversight and direction for assessment and rehabilitation of linear infrastructure.
  • Develop standards and guidelines in conjunction with the Technical Practice Leader for Linear Infrastructure Condition Assessment and Rehabilitation.
  • Actively participate in AECOM Global Technical Practice Network, liaising with other specialists in condition assessment and rehabilitation worldwide.
  • Provide project technical leadership in linear infrastructure assessments, designs, inspection and construction, particularly relating to existing sanitary sewer and watermain infrastructure.
  • Assist in communicating AECOM’s specialized expertise in condition assessment and rehabilitation through technical papers, participating in key industry committees both regionally and in support of North American technical objectives for the discipline.
  • Review designs, contract documents, etc. in accordance with AECOM’s quality requirement Guide/mentor designers, and engineers.
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders
  • Attend client meetings and assist with determining project requirements, and coordinating with internal team members
  • Assist with and preparing proposals, budgets and schedules Chair meetings with project team members and stakeholders
  • Track project progress and quality of work being performed by design disciplines Monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures
  • Effectively and accurately communicate project technical information to the project manager, project team and client
  • Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner Support business development by presenting our capabilities and expertise to potential clients Understand corporate values and goals and ensure these behaviours are upheld
  • Work collaboratively with other Water Market Sectors and business lines including Transportation and Buildings & Places and Environment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years’ experience in designing and /or managing Linear Infrastructure assessment, design, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience in designing and /or managing Linear Infrastructure assessment, design, and rehabilitation projects.
  • Experience performing preliminary engineering assessments, design, developing specifications, and developing and performing testing for various sewer and pipeline rehabilitation technologies/solutions. NASSCO, CATT, WEF, AWWA, ASCE, Institute of Asset Management or related memberships.
  • PMP and IAM certifications would be an asset
