Job Summary:
The Linux Engineer will be an integral part of the Linux Engineering Team and will handle on-going system maintenance, troubleshooting of issues, tasks from assigned tickets, projects (both as a PM and/or as a resource), new system buildouts, system decoms, efforts related to system/process improvements and be a SME resource for other teams with an emphasis on Red Hat. Additionally this position will be part of an on-call rotation with the other members of the Linux Engineering Team and will also take part in scheduled night and weekend work as needed. This person will utilize their expertise to drive innovation, and propose new technology to improve production systems, their security, reliability and availability and lay the ground work for ComPsych’s future infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot highly available Linux systems including development, staging, production, and DR environments
  • Conduct Linux systems administration, including performance monitoring/tuning, capacity planning
  • Ticket management and follow up through completion
  • Handle new system build outs and decommissioning
  • Install, configure and manage security for Operating Systems including deployment of firewalls, IDS/IPS
  • Manage and apply hardening standards for adopted baselines to ensure maximum protection for all environments
  • Deploy, configure, manage and support web-hosting environments, i.e. Apache, MS IIS and load balancers for production, staging, development and test environments while supporting development teams
  • Deploy JBoss and Tomcat environments
  • Conduct research and development to drive innovation and propose new technology to improve production systems and their reliability, security and availability
  • Create and maintain systems and procedures documentation
  • Maintain, update and configure performance monitoring system
  • Handle on call responsibilities when necessary
  • Use Microsoft Project Plan to build and maintain projects and subsequently meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables on-time and within established budgets
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 + years Red Hat Linux Administration, RHEL 7 & 8
  • Understanding of SSL/TLS certificate functionality and experience with creation using command-line tools on Linux
  • Experience managing systems over Secure Shell SSH
  • Experience with systems such as Nagios and Splunk
  • Previous experience working with NFS Network File Systems
  • Experience working with VMware
  • Bash scripting experience required
  • Experience working with virtual servers
  • Strong working knowledge and troubleshooting skills for Apache, MS IIS and load balancing technologies
  • Previous experience working with Ansible a plus.
  • Prefer someone who also has managed PostgreSQL, SQL, Maria DB servers/database etc
  • Working knowledge of SAN systems (Fujitsu, Nimble, Pure Storage, etc
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
