What You Will Do:
Guidehouse has an opportunity for an experienced TS/SCI cleared Linux Engineer to join our team in Reston, VA The Linux Engineer is responsible for designing, implement, and manage Linux virtual machines in a lab environment, within the Intelligence Community Integrated Environment (IC IE).

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and manage Linux virtual machines in a lab environment,
  • Participate in the planning of infrastructure on premises in VMWare, but potentially in the cloud, suggesting strategies based on new and emerging technologies,
  • Take ownership of issues, collaborating with other teams and third-party providers to resolve issues in a timely manner,
  • Perform routine system maintenance and resolve server-side issues as they arise.
  • Manage full system lifecycle including configuration and code deployment in test environment,
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures, as well as maintain and update existing documentation as needed,
  • Mentor other team members in Linux best practices, providing guidance and support when necessary.

What You Will Need:

  • CURRENT and ACTIVE TOP SECRET / SCI federal security Clearance. MUST obtain and maintain a COUNTERINTELLIGENCE (CI) polygraph
  • TWELVE (12) or more years of experience or, equivalent combination of experience, training and certifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT III level certification (i.e. CISSP, CISA, CASP etc..) or the ability to acquire one within a 6-month grace period
  • Knowledge of Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, or Debian,

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • CURRENT and ACTIVE Top Secret (TS) / SCI Clearance with COUNTER INTELLIGENCE (CI) Polygraph
  • Familiar with and have some ability to script in Bash, Python, or Perl,
  • Have an understanding and some experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus), management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef), and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization technologies,
  • Troubleshooting skills and a strong understanding of system security best practices like applying STIG(s) or Security Templates.
  • Certifications relevant to Linux or cloud technologies, such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA),
  • Knowledge and experience with Linux virtual machines in a VMWare environment,
  • Knowledge and experience with Kickstart and automating Linux installations,
  • Experience operating in a team environment, collaborating in Agile practices, and operating in Sprints or following Scrum/Kanban management processes.
