Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist attorney in all phases of litigation, including initial client interview, research, drafting of documents and pleadings, interviewing of witnesses, depositions, motions, trial notebooks, trial, appeal and execution of judgment, as illustrated by the following examples. The specific duties may vary somewhat depending on the specific type of litigation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Relativity (or other e-discovery platform)
  • Ability to read and write in order to proof and perform editing (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling) of routine law office correspondence and legal case matters. Perform non-complex arithmetic calculations when verifying calculations on forms and documents; maintain records and filing systems at a level normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Ability to transcribe legal documents, correspondence and reports from rough draft or dictation at a level of 50 wpm.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
  • Ability to travel locally and nationally in private or public transportation.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone to provide information with courtesy and tact.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
  • Other duties as assigned by the employer.
