JOB DESCRIPTION:

Legal Secretary in a mid-sized local law firm, whose responsibility will be to provide administrative support to a team of 3 to 4 lawyers in the litigation department. The role will involve general legal secretarial and administrative work and some litigation support work.

Responsibilities:

LEGAL SECRETARIAL DUTIES

  • Assisting in the preparation of large files or bundles of documents ahead of hearings / trials
  • Engrossing and sending letters / documents
  • Carrying out public searches on ACRA
  • Carrying out conflict searches
  • Using eLitigation for carrying out searches and/or filing simple court documents

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Providing general administrative support including printing, photocopying, filing of documents and managing files.
  • Taking accurate telephone messages if lawyers are unavailable
  • Generating invoices and billing
  • Managing diaries of allocated lawyers in Microsoft Outlook and scheduling meetings with clients
  • Assisting lawyers with filing claims/reimbursements
  • Making bookings for BD events / business trips
