Summary
Serves as an advisor and liaison between Human Resources, area management, and employees.

Location: Columbia, SC
What You’ll Do:
- Serves as consultant to management and employees on various high-level HR related issues. These include but are not limited to corrective action, terminations, complaints, grievances, investigations, hotline calls, compliance issues, ADA, FMLA, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, performance reviews, compensation, and career counseling.
- Completes special projects as assigned by HR management. Leads and assists co-workers on projects as needed. Serves in lead capacity for other HR Generalists.
- Assists management with questions regarding incentive programs, reductions in force, reorganizations, payroll, and benefits.
- Trains employees, management, and other HR staff on various ADA, FMLA HR related topics.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s
Degree Equivalency:
- 4 years job related work experience or Associate’s and 2 years job related work experience
Required Work Experience:
- 5 years HR generalist and/or progressively responsible HR experience to include compensation, employee relations, recruiting, etc.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree - Human Resources, Education/Training, or Business Administration.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software. Good judgment. Effective customer service, presentation, organizational skills. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in spelling, punctuation, grammar. Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others. Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion. Knowledge of labor regulations involving wage and hour, employment practices, EEO, related areas. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Preferred Software and Other Tools:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or other database software.
Preferred Licenses and Certificates:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR
