Description:

SUMMARY:

Assists in the processing of loan department activity and provides administrative and clerical support to the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following job functions. Other job functions may be assigned from time to time. The job functions contained herein are intended to be supplemented by “Task Lists” which describe various individual tasks associated with each job function.

  • Files lien instruments on motor vehicles pledged as collateral security. Duties include the initiation of the filing process, maintaining records of filings, disbursing checks to Department of Motor Vehicle Branches in appropriate jurisdictions, and attending to the renewal or release of filings.
  • Contacts by telephone, direct computer access, or letter credit bureaus, employers, existing and former creditors, and personal references to verify credit worthiness and accuracy of credit information.
  • Assists in the preparation of credit information necessary to establish credit limit, including such factors as applicant’s assets, credit experience, and personal references, credit scoring, debt/income ratio calculations, and other required information.
  • Keeps record or file of credit transactions inquiries, loans pending, loan activity report by representative, daily loan listing.
  • Sends form letters and brochures to solicit business from prospective borrowers.
  • Provides assistance in filing, inputting data to computer, recording information as required, answering telephones, photocopy, faxing, typing letters, and general office routine.
  • Assists department staff in efficiently and effectively processing the various activities involved in credit granting.
  • Cross-sells members on the benefits of utilizing other credit union services.
  • Performs other duties as might be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) is required; plus at least one year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities thereof.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memoranda. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to employees and members of the credit union.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to operate standard office equipment and tools such as postage machine, fax machine, telephones, photocopier, typewriter, and utilize appropriate versions of current computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
