Description:
A 12-month Locum consultant post in Clinical Haematology with an interest in Advanced Cellular Therapies / CAR T-cell therapies is available at the Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
An opportunity has arisen to appoint a 1.0 WTE NHS Consultant to support, deliver and develop the Advanced Cellular Therapies service as part of the Oxford Clinical Haematology Department based at the Churchill Hospital. This is to cover maternity leave. This post supports the delivery of high-quality diagnostics and therapeutics for patients requiring CAR T-cell therapy. This post forms part of an established multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, other allied health professionals providing, transplantation, cellular therapy, a broad range of clinical trials for Oxfordshire and tertiary services to patients living in Thames Valley.
The role joins a team of consultants and specialist nurses developing and providing a world class, innovative, patient focused haematology service .
The post-holder will lead the CAR T-cell Therapy service , contributing to the development and delivery of both the inpatient and outpatient service. They will work with Consultant Haematologists and the wider clinical team to deliver NHS-commissioned CAR T-cell therapy. A critical component of this role is to lead the process for ongoing training and education of staff. They will also be expected to develop a leading portfolio of CAR T (and other cellular therapy) clinical trials to ensure equal access to new therapies for patients within the catchment area.
Additionally, the post holder will bring clinical experience to the Lymphoid sub-speciality, managing patients in the inpatient/outpatient and day unit environments including MDT attendance. They are required to actively participate in the monthly service operational and governance meeting (including M&M reviews and audit), contribute to the process of JACIE accreditation for Immune Effector Cells and lead the Advanced Cell Therapy Service and Planning meetings.
