Description:
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Ophthalmology with a special interest in vitreo retinal (VR) surgery and medical retina. at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post-holder will be expected to provide a range of Ophthalmology Services. This will include attending the Ophthalmology clinical governance and business meetings. They will be expected to share permanent on call arrangements with VR Consultant colleagues on a 1:3 basis. This cover includes telephone advice and on site examination and / or surgery for emergency cases requiring this highly specialised surgery.
This post covers all aspects of a Consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities.
- The post-holder will be part of a team of 16 Ophthalmology Consultants
- The post-holder will be expected to provide a range of Ophthalmology Services but specialise in Vitreo-retinal and Medical Retina
- The post-holder will attend the Ophthalmology clinical governance and business meetings.
- A commitment to the Trust’s clinical governance and risk strategy is mandatory.
Any other duties necessary for the successful performance of the role, commensurate with the grade.
The post-holder is managerially accountable to the Clinical Director of the Clinical Business Unit and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer at BTHFT.
