Description:
This is a full-time locum appointment in Interventional Radiology at University College London Hospitals. The post-holder will work closely with the existing team of Consultant Radiologists to develop and enhance the imaging service which the Department provides.
The post-holder must have subspecialty experience in Interventional Radiology, as well as general / oncology cross sectional radiology, to support the delivery of the Interventional Radiology and Oncology services, at UCH. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and research and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these.
Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.
The post holder will join the Interventional Radiology team of 7 Consultant Radiologists. The main duties of this post are as follows:
Perform all aspects of Interventional Radiology
Develop the Interventional Radiology service under the guidance of the clinical leads.
Participate in teaching and training
Participate in audit
Participate in the Interventional Radiology on-call service.

The Interventional Radiology team comprises: Dr Joe Brookes, Dr Graham Munneke, Dr An Ngo, Dr Jowad (George) Raja, Dr Conrad Von Stempel, Dr Julian Hague and Dr Ahmed Al-Nowfal. In additional the post-holder will be working closely with the interventional radiology team (Dr Steve Bandula and Dr Miles Walkden) and seven uro-radiologists who participate in the interventional work. There is a strong training element with rotating senior and junior registrars.
UCLH provides a full vascular radiology service in collaboration with the sector vascular “hub” at the Royal Free Hospital. The team operate a 24/7, 365 on-call service and local MDT providing support to Vascular surgery, Cancer (venous access, Chemo and radio embolisation of tumours) Women’s Health (fibroid embolisation, Pelvic congestion, varicose veins), Men’s Health (prostate embolisation, varicocele embolisation), Endocrinology (sampling, diabetic foot). The interventional oncology service (IOS) encompasses liver directed therapies and a large CT guided ablation service including: cryo, microwave and irreversible electorporation ablation for a range of primary and secondary tumour types. There is a dedicated weekly MDT and clinic for IOS patients. There are monthly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Research
The radiology and breast units are active in research and participate in a number of ongoing clinical trials.
Equipment
At the UCH site there are 2 x Interventional Rooms (Philips) and 1 x Vascular Access suite. At the Westmoreland Street site interventional radiology takes place within the main theatre suite.
The post-holder will be accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director. The post is within Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board. Imaging Division.
DIRECT CLINICAL CARE ACTIVITIES:
The post-holder will work together with multidisciplinary teams to develop and provide the Interventional Radiology services within the Department and to ensure development of the service under the guidance of the clinical lead.

Monday. All day interventional at UCH
Tuesday. Morning SPA session (off-site) and time for cross sessional reporting to support the vascular and interventional oncology work.
Wednesday. Morning interventional radiology session and afternoon intervention and interventional CT list.
Thursday. No scheduled work.
Friday. Morning IR at UCH. Afternoon IR at UCH or Westmoreland Streer Hospital
