Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in the Medical Retina & Leading the Urgent Care Service in the North Divisions (Northwick Park & Ealing Site)
The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing care and management of Medical Retina patients within the trust. The successful candidate will be expected to provide training for junior doctors and to support the further development of the Allied Health Care Professionals within the service.
Candidates should have completed their Specialist Training in Ophthalmology, have their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or be within six months of their CCT date. Candidates are required to be in possession of the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists or equivalent. The holder of this post is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice. The successful candidate should have completed at least a year of subspecialty Medical Retina fellowship training.
The post is located between Moorfields Eye Hospital at Ealing Hospital and Moorfields Eye Centre at Northwick Park Hospital. There are ten programmed activities PA’s.
Whilst this is a general medical retina job, the post holder will have responsibilities for retinal therapies including theatres and the injection services across the trust. The postholder will participate in the medical retina and uveitis on-call rota which is a 1:25 rota currently and includes weekdays and weekends.
A provisional timetable is enclosed, but this will be subject to change as the Moorfields unit develops and grows. In particular, there is increasing emphasis nationally on extending the opening times of hospitals into the evenings, weekends and clinic in the community. The timetable may therefore change in future to meet the demands of this extended service
