The position is suitable for a post-CCT candidate planning to develop as a consultant with a strong education focus, including simulation, and a subspecialty interest in complex pain management. It is anticipated (but not confirmed at time of writing) that further neurosurgical clinical aspect will be added to this role in due course.
The post holder is directly responsible to the Head of Specialty for Neurosurgery, but will work with the Director for Clinical Studies.

The ICHT Pain Service
The post also requires a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a subspeciality interest in complex pain, specifically neuromodulation, to work as part of the specialist neuromodulation MDT, providing input in line with GIRFT recommendations, from the point of referral/triaging through to stimulator insertion/modification. The successful applicant will work with the established pain management consultant body and wider MDT at Imperial and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals, along with the multi-professional workforce, to provide expertise and deliver a comprehensive pain management service for neurosurgical patients.

This component of the role requires experience in simulation training, to lead delivery for the Neurosurgery Department, and to develop educational resources, primarily for the Department, although these are likely to have widespread appeal.
