In this role you will oversee logistic costing, analysis, and a billing team, ensuring our operations are financially optimised and compliant.
In this crucial role, you’ll prepare detailed performance reports, provide insightful variance analysis, and conduct cost analyses to identify savings opportunities. You’ll collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to meet KPIs and cost targets and lead the forecasting of logistics costs and revenue to achieve corporate financial goals.

Role and Responsibilities

Performance Reporting:

  • Lead the preparation and distribution of performance reports to Finance, Logistics Managers, and Product Managers.
  • Provide timely and accurate monthly cost management and freight reports, including insightful variance analysis to inform decision-making.

Cost Analysis:

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of process constraints, target cost-saving projects, and trace costs back to underlying activities
  • Partner with 3PLs to ensure SOPs are followed while meeting KPIs and cost targets

Forecasting:

  • Prepare logistics cost and cost ratio forecasts, reviewing them with Finance monthly to ensure corporate finance targets are achieved
  • Conduct weekly and daily revenue forecasts, especially during the last week of the month, to ensure planned revenue targets are delivered

Ad-hoc Projects:

  • Undertake various ad-hoc projects, analysing and reporting on outcomes, and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Advise the Logistics Manager on matters requiring attention and implement decisions

Cost Efficiency:

  • Drive process and cost efficiency internally and with 3PL providers
  • Analyse and interpret various logistical data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Track and analyse the cost of poor quality (COPQ) at the product division level

GMP System Management:

  • Maintain LT/Cut-off/Holiday master data in GERP as per operational needs and seasonality
  • Monitor EDI daily to ensure errors are identified and resolved promptly
  • Manage the tariff system in GERP to ensure contract pricing structures adequately reflect logistics costing

System Support:

  • Maintain a comprehensive database of logistics information for accurate reporting and analysis and develop and implement ongoing system enhancements to improve functionality and efficiency

KPI Management:

  • Review and develop new logistics KPIs and KPI incentives with the Operations Manager to ensure performance targets are met

Team Development:

  • Mentor and develop team members to ensure task sustainability and promote professional growth
  • Foster team collaboration through backup plans and cohesive learning via Standard Operating Procedures and On-boarding Plans

Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting & Finance is preferred and has a solid understanding of financial principles and practices in the context of logistics operations
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is required to demonstrate a deep understanding of logistics commercial management and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Credit Risk Analysis is necessary to assess and mitigate financial risks associated with logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relations is crucial for fostering positive relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP is highly desirable and experience in RFQ (Request for Quotation) preparation
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are essential for data analysis, financial reporting, and forecasting within the logistics context
  • Agility and adaptability to rapid changes are critical in the dynamic logistics environment, enabling proactive responses to evolving business needs and market trends
