JOB SUMMARY

The role of the Logistics Engineer is to be the focal point in the design, implementation and execution of continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cost structures, improve productivity and product throughput, streamline processes, and improve service and performance metrics across all operations within Materials and Logistics. The role drives the design, analysis, and implementation of supply chain solutions to solve complex logistics situations for distribution of materials and finished goods.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business, or other related fields.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems desired, previous PLEX ERP system preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and supply chain management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong technical, communication, customer service, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using knowledge of industrial engineering techniques to analyze warehouse processes, identify improvement projects to optimize labor, space, accuracy, and safety throughout the process. Provide data analysis and root cause identification to prioritize key logistics projects. Use statistical analysis, FMEA and other analytical tools required to support recommendations. Develop and monitor process metrics.
  • Evaluate warehouse processes, identify waste, and recommends changes that improve efficiency. Review process improvements at other warehouses or best practices that can be implemented in local sites. Track and report efficiency on projects. Keep additional project pipeline full.
  • Manage major projects within the warehouse for capital investments including ROI evaluation, specifying equipment, updating processes, monitoring installations, and train associates to ensure changes are seamless to our customers and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Oversee analysis and improvements to manufacturing & warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, retrieval, and distribution.
  • With the Logistics team, identify annual cost savings opportunities through implementation of continuous improvement initiatives resulting in optimum operational and financial logistics performance.
  • Design, develop, validate, and implement methods and tools that improve operational flexibility and execution of a lean production systems using appropriate lean logistics concepts.
  • Modify and improve existing logistics systems such as material flow, storage, and information flow.
  • Support Logistics teams in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement solutions that focus on reducing lead time throughout the value stream and extended supply chain.
  • Teach and drive the utilization of lean logistics tools such as Plan for Every Part, Kanban, Supermarkets, Milk runs, etc.
  • Collaborate with other Logistic team to optimize “best in class” shipping, receiving, and warehousing processes.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
