Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership:

  • The LM must promote at all times a positive safety culture through exemplary leadership and active participation with others to drive development of safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for updating and ensuring implementation of key logistic safety processes including Safe Trucker Program (STP), 3Rd Party Logistic Contracts Safety Clause, Logistic Critical Incident Review.

Sales Production Inventory Process:

  • The LM will ensure that key 3rd party production requirements, 3rd party resales and resale agreement commitments are fully incorporated into the sourcing plan and SPI tool, monitoring their performance, identifying optimization opportunities within and across markets and coordinating with the market GM’s to ensure their implementation maximizing value.
  • The LM will work closely with the GTA’s General Manager to ensure that the tools and management structure of the Sales & Operational Planning (S&OP) process to optimize the use of our production capacity.
  • Having visibility on our overall network and supply chain structure, the LM will assess the GTA’s Depot and Docks strategy and performance and benchmark against expected profitability aiming to maximize the value of our urban distribution centers, fully recognizing their logistics advantage.

Hauler & Market Management:

  • Establish regular contact with major carriers building win-win relationships to provide the best transportation services at or below market rates keeping in mind a sustainable trucking cost structure. Leverage relationships to gather market intelligence, learn about operating cost structures and influence the market.
  • Identify other market sources of supply into the respective territory. Continuously monitors market activity, communicates and recommends any necessary actions. Tracks aggregate haul industry logistic market players, units, and demand.

Analytics & Business Intelligence:

  • The LM actively monitors logistics performance including price and margin realization, corrective actions plan progress among others by defining the relevant tracking tools, and KPI’s consolidate and analyze relevant data including partnering with Business

Intelligence (BI) or other functions.

  • The LM directs, oversees and supports the development and use of various logistics tools, reports, and dashboards improving sales and business analytics (Qlikview, Qliksense, PowerBI, Salesforce.Com, SAP, Looker, etc).

Coaching & Collaboration:

  • The LM demonstrates leadership, coaching, collaboration, and development discussions to stretch and challenge staff to deliver results and strengthen relationships within their market area teams, as well as with functional units, customers and transportation partners.
  • The LM will identify and organize relevant training and development programs focused on the ongoing professionalization of our logistics & dispatch teams.

Financial Management:

  • Deliver continuous gross delivery margin and operating profit improvements. Prepare annual budgets for logistics operations and report on in-year actual performance against the logistics financial ambition.
  • Accountability and management of the financial process will be measured through the tracking & forecasting of Gross Profit on Delivery, Shipping costs, logistics, administrative costs and other costs related to the supply chain team.
  • The LM will conduct monthly and quarterly logistics meetings with the GTA General Manager and will lead the performance reviews and analysis on logistics cost and revenue on Month End Financial Reviews.

Commercial Growth:

  • Ensures that competitive and fair freight rates for zone maps, large projects, and annual supply contracts are reviewed with the GTA’s C&LM to ensure cohesion with the annual commercial strategy.
  • Assists the GTA’s Commercial organization by actively building strategic partnerships to support the objectives of the supply organization within the region both internally and externally.

Relationship with Others:

  • Reports to the GTA Commercial & Logistics Manager
  • Works closely with the GTA General Manager, Director of Supply Chain & Commercial Performance, Operations Manager, Territory Managers, Quality Manager, Marketing and Operation Analysts and Plant Managers.

Specific Accountabilities

Strategy and Process:

  • Supports the implementation of the GTA Logistics strategy in collaboration with the Director of Supply Chain & Commercial Performance, aligning expectations on the implementation of initiatives, tools, and operational efficiency targets
  • Champions the GTA Logistics core fleet initiative, models target scale and profitability ambitions, defines and tracks key utilization and profitability variables and metrics.
  • Collaborates with the ECAN Supply Chain & Performance team to assist in the development of digital tools and bidding platforms aiming for cost and margin optimization by route, project and segment, including the optimization and evolution of our TMS systems. Continuous enhancement and improvement of digital and analytical tools.
  • Understands, analyzes, and consolidates market data and trends, anticipates economic drivers, growth opportunities and synergies
  • Supports markets in zone definition and target margins
  • Ensure a world-class call-center is maintained, with proper tools and systems, while constantly striving to improve customer communication and satisfaction.

Performance Optimization and Analysis:

  • EBIT Transportation Costs and Delivery Margins
  • Monthly Inventory Forecast & Sourcing Plan
  • Hauler Compliance & Performance Tracking (Insurance, License, CVOR, Whitesheet, GVW, etc.)
  • Coordinates the effective implementation and use of the ECAN Transportation Management System
  • Consolidates, analyzes and prepares periodic reports on market logistics performance KPI including, among others, site turnaround times, delivered %, average cost per ton, profitability by market, zones and customer segment, margin mapping by customer, backhaul %, etc.
  • Provides optimization recommendations related among others to site turnaround times, price negotiation opportunities, route optimization
  • Tracks and validates data integrity and reliability by market and identifies and resolve issues across markets
