Description:

Secure-Rite Mobile Storage is seeking an experienced Logistics and Purchasing Manager at our Head Office in Kelowna. Secure-Rite Mobile Storage (www.Secure-Rite.com) serves mobile storage needs in BC and Alberta from our locations in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, Prince George, Calgary, and Vancouver.
The Logistics and Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s logistics operations. This includes ensuring that products are efficiently and cost-effectively transported to and from suppliers and customers, as well as maintaining inventory levels and tracking shipping costs. The Logistics and Purchasing Manager also develops and oversees procedures for receiving, storing, and shipping inventory. The ideal candidate for this job should have a degree in supply chain/logistics management or related 3+ years of experience managing and developing procedures for an organization’s logistics department. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, as well as excellent communication skills, are also essential to success in this role. This is a role that will balance your strategic vision with “street smarts” and it is important that you can connect purchasing decision-making and planning to the ebbs and flows of the market.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience working with Microsoft Office products in an office environment.

LOGISTICS AND PURCHASING MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Logistics Manager
  • Experience in a Purchasing role
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology used in logistics operations, including Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management & Movement
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at the origin and destination to ensure alignment
  • Support Branch Managers with customer and inter-branch movement of inventory
  • Ensuring execution of transfers are performed - prioritizing quality, time, and budget
  • Analyzing logistical patterns and industry trends to predict product requirements
  • Keeping track of delivery metrics and conducting related audits
  • Maintain records and sightline/forecast of inventory to determine when new inventory needs to be ordered
  • Evaluate purchasing policies
  • Set and enforce a budget for the purchasing department
  • Oversee the negotiations of all purchases made by the purchasing department
  • Control the purchasing of containers, contracts, and other goods and services
  • Review and audit incoming invoices from vendors
  • Other duties as required
