Description:

Job Title: Logistics and Safety Manager
Job Status: Full-time, Salary, Exempt
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Summary: This position will manage the logistics, driver records, DOT records, fleet maintenance along with driver and warehouse safety. A strong communicator, collaborating cross-functionally across the company, with a brand to lead and drive. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s designated delivery and fleet initiatives, including control of scope and specifications, end-to-end schedule, budget, and directing actions of vendors conducting support of programs in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Individual must possess strong, comprehensive PC skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook products) and have an aptitude with new software and systems.
  • Current, knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources/safety and employee management, including workers’ compensation, and federal and state safety and employment laws.
  • Must have ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, be a self-starter, be detail oriented, and have very strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be a problem-solver, forward-thinker, and creative partner. Always improving practices to improve the efficiently and safety of the work place.
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate, or greater, degree and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of all functional areas in the wholesale electrical distribution industry preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasionally standing and walking. Most of the time sitting, use of hands/fingers, talking/hearing. Often reaching with hands/arms. May be required to lift to 50 lbs. on an infrequent basis.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct support to all company locations with scheduling, routing, tracking and manpower assistance, in close partnership with local field leaders.
  • Coordinate logistics and vehicle maintenance with local field leaders.
  • Maintain driver and DOT records ensuring they are up-to-date and complete.
  • Maintain knowledge of market area and provide the most efficient delivery areas and routes as possible.
  • Create, coordinate, and review transportation shipping schedules for accuracy and course correction as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment with the goal of ensuring that all fleet employees work and return home safely.
  • Leverage systems, equipment, and process redesign to drive continuous improvement in

cost, quality, and efficiency.

  • Perform safety training for drivers.
  • Perform training of employees for forklift certification.
  • Record and maintain all necessary files and records.
  • Make on-going inspections of facilities, equipment, and employee issues to ensure safe working conditions in all facilities.
  • Ensure facilities and operations are following various local, state, and federal safety regulations including OSHA in conjunction with the RSMs. Act as a subject matter expert, providing help and support throughout the organization.
  • Develop training and educational programs to help educate supervisory and line employees on proper safety and first aid programs and procedures.
  • Create, update and maintain corporate safety manuals for all facilities in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Review and analyze accident reports, metrics, and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include assisting with training employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Supervise the maintenance of the company delivery fleet.
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided and completed by all delivery driver team members.
  • Identify deficiencies and/or areas of improvement and communicate to management team for resolution.
