Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum required education: High School Diploma/ GED

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 year prior relative industry experience or logistics experience
  • Experience working with Carriers and arranging transportation preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be organized and analytical, able to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast paced and pressured environment, communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients and following verbal and written instructions
  • Must be able to efficiently solve problems relating to sales, finance and transportation of goods in locations both national and overseas
  • Must have excellent computer skills and be able to operate Microsoft applications and be familiar with any other software pertinent to the position
  • Must have very strong spreadsheet skills (Excel).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with clients, couriers and other operational departments
  • Verify that quality assurance checks are completed and maintained
  • Maintain accurate logs of all transportation and goods
  • Determine and maintain product classifications for import/export shipments
  • Complete freight claims for damaged shipments
  • Coordinate domestic, international, and warehouse transfer shipments
  • Coordinate internally managed orders
  • Coordinate the movement of externally processed WIP and act as the primary point of contact with the supplier regarding the movement of materials
  • Communicate daily with carriers and freight forwarders, in coordinating pickup and delivery of shipments
  • Prepare and process required documentation; examples: commercial invoices, export documentation, certificates of origin, and bills of lading, ASN’s
  • Provide rate quotes per customers’ requests for both current and future shipments
  • Maintain standard operating procedures to reflect current processes
  • Validate all freight bill & coding as deemed necessary from third party billing provider and corporate finance
  • Manage and maintain all record keeping requirements in accordance with Thermo Fisher policy
  • Work closely with our warehouse personnel to ensure they have all documentation required to prepare shipment and understand regulatory requirements
  • Determine load size and special handling requirements to optimize the best carrier for movement of goods
  • Participate in PPI to continually improve processes
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned
