Position Description
Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Infrastructure and Platform Services Infrastructure Assistant Director, this position supports the ITS-Infrastructure & Platform Services group and their interface with other campus systems and services; provides physical communications and network infrastructure and associated systems analysis, modification, maintenance, installation and support and interfaces with internal ITS staff and the user community on the use of these systems and infrastructure. This position supports enterprise-level campus copper and optical fiber cable, and other related infrastructure and systems including but not limited to wired and wireless data networks (Ethernet), cable television distribution systems, telephone systems with digital and analog services and two-way radio systems. This position also maintains and supports assigned systems and services to ensure system availability, integrity, and reliability.
Department Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) is a fast-moving team that is responsible for helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing learning, teaching, and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives. With a focus on continuous improvement, ITS fosters innovation, supports continuous learning, and develops people to their full potential. Our team of more than 170 professionals works in a DevOps environment to shape the technology landscape at Cal Poly.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience with network and telecommunications functionality and a working knowledge of these systems.
  • Knowledge of the safety practices, codes, standards, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the telecommunications and network wiring industry.
  • Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring and cable as required working

from layout or plans.

  • Assist in equipment inventory management best practices, including cycle counting, safety stock, and reorder point strategies.
  • Assist in daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing products.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate Degree or equivalent education, training, and/or directly related experience plus one year of relevant experience.
    Salary and Benefits
    Anticipated Hiring Range: $55,000 - $65,000 Per Year
    Classification Range: $42,060 - $70,224 Per Year
