Description:

North Central Co-op invites applications for the position of Lumber Manager to join our Home Centre team in Stony Plain, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day execution, planning and direction for all lumber and yard operations, while achieving established objectives in terms of service levels, quality and timeliness of delivery and identify areas for improvement.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required. Post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years prior lumber, hardware or building materials experience required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with strong communication and attention to detail.
  • Ability to control operational costs, maximize operational efficiency, and improve sales and growth margin.
  • Forklift certification

Responsibilities:

  • Applies comprehensive level of operational knowledge and managerial skills to achieve established objectives in terms of brand, service levels, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Prepares, administers and achieves budgeted department goals related to sales, margin, expenses and inventory.
  • Ensures the efficient operation of the lumber department to achieve all financial targets and deliver on budgeted KPI’s.
  • Provide recommendations and supports internal pricing, promotion and product policies in response to local market needs and competition.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to brand and merchandising standards, marketing efforts and image standards.
  • Provide leadership to the department, including performance management, training and development of team members.
  • Maintain customer relations by ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt, efficient and quality customer service levels.
  • Periodic site visits to current and new clientele to attract new business opportunities.
  • Ensuring inventory management standards are being followed such as adjustments, returns etc.
  • Actioning and following up on all customer discrepancies in a timely manner.
