DESCRIPTION
Systems Specialist/Engineer, Weight & Power
Position Description:
- Develop and maintain databases for mass properties (weight tapes)
- Develop and maintain vehicle Power budgets
- Create weight targets and estimate and track part/assembly weights
- Monitor and report size, weight and power (SWAP) data
- Address adverse SWAP Trends and develop/assess Corrective Actions (CAs)
- Develop and implement SWAP processes and tools to maintain GDLS industry leadership
- Train and educate personnel in GDLS-C SWAP process and tool methodology
- Maintain Mass Property Metrics
- Perform Engineering calculations in support of performance allocations
- Perform requirement change SWAP impact analysis
- Participate in customer discussions and meetings
- Identify process improvement initiatives
- Gather, maintain and analyze transportability data in accordance with National, International, and Military standards
Position Requirements:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong technical and analytical ability
- Product knowledge of Military/LAV family of vehicles
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to be agile, set priorities and multi-task under pressure
- Strong systems thinking perspective
- Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 10% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport.
Preferred Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of cross-departmental procedures/practices
- Knowledge of vehicle design practices
- Experience with Data/Knowledge Management systems and practices
- Exposure to Systems requirements definition, analysis, allocations
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and tools
- Working knowledge of GDLS Internal Process System and Systems Engineering Fundamentals
