DESCRIPTION

Systems Specialist/Engineer, Weight & Power

Position Description:

  • Develop and maintain databases for mass properties (weight tapes)
  • Develop and maintain vehicle Power budgets
  • Create weight targets and estimate and track part/assembly weights
  • Monitor and report size, weight and power (SWAP) data
  • Address adverse SWAP Trends and develop/assess Corrective Actions (CAs)
  • Develop and implement SWAP processes and tools to maintain GDLS industry leadership
  • Train and educate personnel in GDLS-C SWAP process and tool methodology
  • Maintain Mass Property Metrics
  • Perform Engineering calculations in support of performance allocations
  • Perform requirement change SWAP impact analysis
  • Participate in customer discussions and meetings
  • Identify process improvement initiatives
  • Gather, maintain and analyze transportability data in accordance with National, International, and Military standards

Position Requirements:

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong technical and analytical ability
  • Product knowledge of Military/LAV family of vehicles
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to be agile, set priorities and multi-task under pressure
  • Strong systems thinking perspective
  • Ability to travel (5% Canadian, 10% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of cross-departmental procedures/practices
  • Knowledge of vehicle design practices
  • Experience with Data/Knowledge Management systems and practices
  • Exposure to Systems requirements definition, analysis, allocations
  • Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and tools
  • Working knowledge of GDLS Internal Process System and Systems Engineering Fundamentals
