We currently have a great opportunity as a Machine Operator Summer Student!
Summary of job functions:
Ensure the product is processed, inspected, counted, and packaged according to the Quality Instruction Sheet (Trim Sheet). Ensure the work area is operating efficiently and producing quality products. Communicate information as required at shift change to the oncoming team as well as report any problems as they occur to Supervision. Align with established safety and housekeeping procedures.
Primary duties:
- Read and follow the information on the assigned Quality Instruction Sheet
- Cut, clip, trim, visual check, count, and assemble parts as indicated on the trim sheet
- Package parts using the skid configuration
- Conduct quality checks to identify visual defects
- Stamp each box that is packed for lot traceability
- Maintain established safety, quality, and efficiency standards
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards
- Enter scrap into the hydra system
- Follow safe work practices
- Participate in the facility waste management program
- Able to set up a workstation as demanded by the process and 5S standards
- Other duties as assigned
Machinery/ equipment used:
- Clippers, sonic welding, scales, tape machines, stamp, grinders, paging system, Hydra System, bar code machines, jigs, fixtures, conveyors, etc.
- Required personal protective equipment includes CSA nonslip safety shoes, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing while on the production floor
Working conditions/hazards:
- Semi-climate-controlled production plant environment
- Standing/walking - entire shift - concrete floor
- Lifting - light to moderate (up to 35 lbs)
- Noise - range from 75 - 85 D.B.A.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Currently enrolled in College or University
- Prior Customer Service or Manufacturing environment experience is an asset
- Good Interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
