As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you will handle a small team of personnel by providing hands on leadership and mentorship regarding best practice, efficiency, quality, safety, and cleanliness, and through ongoing upkeep of machines and equipment to prevent breakdowns, and focused resolution where breakdowns do occur to minimise downtime.

Responsibilities:
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Detailed scheduling for all Machine Shop work centers and creation of work lists for each machine.
- Feed back to management and jointly resolve any issues with planned production with the leadership team and other employees as necessary.
- Problem solving, documentation and ongoing improvements of machining and processing best practice.
- Review of production variances, minimisation of component, material and labour costs.
- Day to day supervision and guidance of machine shop team to ensure standards of efficiency and quality are maintained.
- Mentorship for problem resolution, current machining best practice and improvements.
- Planning and execution for all training required as part employees roles including, trade (apprentices), Health & Safety, EM, Quality, etc.
- Promote collaboration and harmony through regular communication with staff and active management of behavior that may affect these.
- Correlation of required tooling & consumables for purchasing. CNC Programs – Creation, Maintenance and Storage.
- Preventative maintenance inspections.
- Work with the Maintenance Fitter and machine dealers/suppliers as required for machine breakdowns and repairs.
- Ensure that a clean and safe work area is maintained by all staff.
- Work from drawings, quality plans and work instructions to figure out machining operation to be performed.
- Programming, setting and operating of CNC Machine tools to manufacture components by turning, boring, milling, or drilling metal stock or castings as required.
- Setup and operate manual machine tools to manufacture components by turning, boring, milling, grinding or drilling metal stock or castings when required.
- Select cutting tools and speed, pressure and depths of cuts.
- Basic machine maintenance including daily lubrication, scheduled coolant changes and other maintenance as required.
For this role, you will need:
- Trade qualified in 1st Class Machining
- Extensive programming experience with Mazatrol lathe controls and Fanuc Machining Center controls.
- Proven machine shop supervision experience
- Experience with Health & Safety systems and procedures.
