MACHINIST.

The successful candidate should have skills comparable to those of a skilled machinist with a minimum of 8 years of machining experience. They should have a general or overall knowledge of maintenance activity of machines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

• Sound knowledge in Machining, Cutting tools Management.
• Product knowledge & experience in Fisher products!

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

• Reviews 2D/3D CAD design blueprints.
• Carry out all set-ups for tooling and machines.
• Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
• Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (EDGE CAM / SOLID WORKS) program if needed.
• Prepares geometric layout of designs using accurate software if needed.
• Resolves sequence of operations in a program.
• Chooses cutting tools that will be needed.
• Analyzes routing / job order and performs vital calculations.
• Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
• Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of sophisticated shapes.
• Simplifies tooling time for machinist and increases efficiency.
• Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and optimally complete the task.
• Report the tooling plan and requirement to the supervisor.
• Report the gauge plan and requirement to the supervisor.
• Able to run all machines in the shop efficiently.
• Must be conversant with the materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques.
• Able to use various measuring instruments as required and report the dimensions.
• Performs routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment applied, to include, tool sharpening, machine oiling, fluid level/air pressure checks, safety switch functioning etc.
• Aligns with all safety rules and regulations.
• Responsible for personal safety and those around them. Maintains excellent housekeeping standards.
• Participates in Safety, Quality and Activities Committees (if applicable).
• Other duties as assigned.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

• Technical Diploma or equivalent in related field
• Basic computer knowledge – Able to work in MS Office tools.
• Technical / Machining Background
• Ability to read and write to align with written instructions and complete departmental paperwork Read and Understand Technical Drawings.
• Minimum 7-8 years’ experience in operating conventional machines.
