Description:

To support and provide information to the line manager to enable the continued development of the Macmillan advice worker in meeting the needs of the client. Attend user group meetings as required and work with the line manager in regular service reviews To work with the line manager to ensure through supervision that Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advice maintains national standards. To assist the line manager in ensuring that performance targets are met, including maintenance of relevant statistical information as required by the Manager & Trust. To develop and sustain effective working relationships with other voluntary, community, faith and statutory organisations working with the client group, network with other professionals in the advice work field and represent the project at meetings with other agencies as appropriate.
Attend with the line manager and participate in any relevant forums as detailed by Macmillan Cancer Support.ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES To maintain detailed statistical information as required by and in a format determined by the line manager so as to monitor and evaluate the service. To work with the line manager to design effective publicity material and to actively promote the service through appropriate methods. To follow the policies/procedures stated in the Trust and Macmillan guidelines. To provide to the line manager all relevant information for report production.
Including the progress of the service in achieving its aims and objectives and outcomes in line with its performance targets. To be largely self-administrating, demonstrating excellent time management skills. The collection of all information necessary to meet the monitoring and evaluation requirements of management and funder. To record and note all relevant social policy issues in accordance with national guidelines.
To support Macmillan social policy work by providing case studies and feedback on issues of concern to people affected by cancer. To prepare factsheets as requested for Macmillan staff and health professionals. To demonstrate a commitment at all times to the aims, principles and policiesSep 2022of the Macmillan Information Service and the implementation of Trust equality policies. Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues.TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSBILITIESMaintain an up to date knowledge of the welfare benefits system and policies and procedures relevant to the post.To attend regular supervision and support sessions with the line manager and / or supervisor.To participate fully in the Trust appraisal process.To work with the line manager to identify training requirements and attend opportunities for personal development, especially to develop skills and increaseKnowledge & understanding of cancer treatments and its impact on people affected by cancer.To attend staff meetings as required, delivering information on living with cancer to colleagues & other health and social care professionals working with the client group.GENERAL DUTIES Continually monitor standards of the service and participate in the improvement of service in response to patient feedback.
To observe the provisions of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures. To actively participate in the annual performance review to identify personal development need. To attend Trust Statutory and Mandatory training sessions as required and any other training courses relevant to the post. To keep up to date with the requirements of information governance; undertake mandatory training and follow Trust policies and procedures to ensure that trust information is dealt with legally, securely, efficiently and effectively.
You must maintain the confidentiality of information about service user staff and organisational business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Caldicott principles. To ensure that when creating, managing and sharing information records it is done in an appropriate way, subject to statutory requirements and agreed security and confidentiality policies, procedures and guidelines. All employees are responsible for implementing and maintaining data quality, ensuring that records are legible and attributable and that the record keeping is contemporaneous. To be aware of the confidential aspects of the post.
Breaches of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action that may involve dismissal.
