KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Sound knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic and punctuation.
- Sound knowledge of modern office practices and procedures and of the policies, procedures and regulations applicable to the work.
- Sound knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the operation of word processing equipment.
- Ability to process mail using postage, sorting, inserting and related general mailing equipment with accuracy and reasonable speed and to provide routine mail and postage information.
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm and be able to operate common office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook at a basic level.
- Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks, to compose routine correspondence and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to assist in performing more advanced word processing tasks under direction.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships and to deal tactfully and courteously with a variety of public and internal contacts.
- Ability to prioritize, balance workload, complete deadlines and handle interruptions effectively in order to complete tasks and effectively resolve complaints and issues in a positive manner.
- Ability to successfully clear a Criminal Record Check.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion Grade 12, supplemented by typing, word processing and commercial courses, plus sound related experience, preferably including some word processing, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
Responsibilities:
- Provide factual information and assistance to internal and external contacts.
- Sort and distribute office mail and may provide reception break relief.
- Process a variety of documents, check assignments for spelling and grammatical errors, and establish and maintain related records and files.
