QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years relevant consulting or industry experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Must be willing to work onsite up to 1 day biweekly
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Preferred:
- Experience with Agile development methodology
- Attentive to detail with deliverables and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient understanding of Assembly Language and legacy data structures
- Familiarity with IBM Mainframe and associated tools such as InfoConnect, IBM Rational Developer for z Systems (RDZ), IMB Developer for zOS (IDZ)
- Experience object-oriented programming, preferably Java
- Experience with debugging tools

Responsibilities:
In this role, you will support government client to modernize a legacy application to Java by providing IBM Assembler (ALC) expertise to interpret and debug legacy ALC code. The candidate needs to be able to understand and explain ALC code functionality written as business logic that is easily interpreted by Java architects and developers. Additionally, ALC develops will be expected to write ALC code to convert existing ALC code into simplified and more organized macros to support the modernization. The candidate will support testing efforts by using Mainframe tools to debug the ALC code and communicate effectively with Java developers to support defect triage work. The candidate should understand object-oriented programming (preferably Java) to support defect triage directly in the modernized Java application as needed.
