The Maintenance Buyer in Franklin WI will be a key stakeholder for a new 340,000 square foot conversion facility and will play an integral part of Saputo’s strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong history in Wisconsin and are proud to be expanding our footprint in this area.
TheMaintenance Buyer is responsible for purchasing maintenance parts, equipment, components and consumables. Will maintain the ERP solution integrity to include inventory, service and on-demand maintenance work activities. Heavy partnership with Maintenance Manager and technicians to ensure M&R activities align with operations activities and fiscal M&R budget objectives.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter

  • Purchase parts, components, equipment, and consumables for the maintenance department in accordance with established internal procurement controls and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate maintenance and repair part inventories and maintaining accurate stock at or above minimum levels to ensure plant reliability and up time.
  • Maintain daily stock, inventory, and issuance of parts/supplies.
  • Notify Supervisor of any parts that are received damaged or missing from the order, coordinate with vendor for prompt issuance of credit or replacement.
  • Receipt in all special-order parts. Maintain a special-order file and notify Supervisor when parts are received.
  • Maintain a backorder file.
  • Maintains maximum profitability and alignment with plant M&R budget. Activities include cost containment, obtaining competitive bidding and price options for maintenance parts, equipment, and consumables.
  • Ensure vendors and suppliers meet expected price, delivery, and service expectations.
  • Heavy coordination with maintenance management, technicians, suppliers, service providers, contractors, and engineers in an effort to ensure maintenance demand planning activities are scheduled in support of plant operations. This includes both planned and unplanned maintenance activities. Plan and prepare for required parts, equipment and consumables to support maintenance planning activities.
  • Prepares and generate routine reports, such as inventory balance, price lists, and inventory shortages. Prepares list of depleted items and recommends survey of defective or salvage/scrap items for obsolete equipment in support of maintenance department activities.
  • Support the AP and Finance department to ensure all detailed service and contract documentation is complete.
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure positive business relationships.
  • Support internal/external audit activities.
  • Participate in all training sessions as required.
  • Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively apply the Saputo Values.
  • Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experiences, Skills, and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or certified equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance demand planning, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel), email, general office equipment (scanner/copier/fax).
  • SAP experience preferred, with the technical capacity to learn and apply new applications is required.
  • Highly organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and overtime assignments as required.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment and components.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance process.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency and understanding of systems such as safety, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and code compliance as it related to procuring parts, equipment, and components.
  • Possess an understanding of OSHA and GMP regulations.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extensive planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
  • Physical lifting up to 40-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
  • Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment, and following approved chemical handling procedures.
