QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC, plumbing, paint and drywall work.
  • Previous hotel or residential apartment experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a service-related position is an asset.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekend and holidays when required.
  • May be required to work weekdays/weeknights base on business needs (with advance notification).
  • Resourceful at troubleshooting.
  • Heavy work - Exerting up to 35 pounds of measured pull/push weight force, and/or 25 pounds measured push/pull weight force periodically while lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling carts and otherwise moving and maintaining objects.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must comply with all health and safety guidelines, practices, and regulations.
  • Written and verbal communications skills.
  • Motivated individual who works well both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and to meet all deadlines.
  • Understands customer service and can implement it on a day-to-day basis.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be guest-service focused.

Responsibilities:

  • To operate and execute preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs to building, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, mechanical systems and responding to hotel guest complaints.
  • To ensure a comfortable atmosphere in all areas by performing preventive maintenance.
  • To complete daily operating records and log books.
  • To complete assigned work orders and preventative maintenance record logs.
  • To respond to the needs of hotel guests as dispatched. This includes performing preventive maintenance or repair requests on all in-house systems and equipment such as: telephones, TV’s, locks, plumbing, HVAC and electrical equipment to ensure their effective operation.
  • To maintain a high-quality physical appearance of the hotel by performing cosmetic repairs to ceilings, walls, tiles, carpets, washrooms, windows, floors, window coverings and furniture including painting, cleaning, and basic carpentry duties.
  • To maintain effective lighting by checking fuses and circuitry and replacing bulbs and ballasts in all areas of the Hotel, inside and out.
  • To assist other trades people and perform other duties as assigned.
  • To receive and distribute materials/supplies and assist in maintaining accurate inventories. This includes data collection and entry.
  • To respond in a courteous manner to guest questions, complaints and/or compliments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Complete all required health and safety training, and be part of the company’s health and safety committee for inspections and meetings.
  • Be a resource for professional health and safety tips, and be a role model in “doing-your-job-safely”.
  • To assist the Director of Operations and other department managers with any projects as needed.
  • To follow all fire, emergency and health safety programs and procedures in conformance with laws having jurisdiction.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
