Under the direction of the Maintenance and Utilities Team Leader, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Department on all issues relating to equipment reliability, specification, and maintenance.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Act as technical expert / SME on maintenance engineering on site.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure an effective preventative maintenance program is in place based on corporate/industry standards, vendor information and expertise.
  • Consult with key site stakeholders to drive the maintenance program and eliminate equipment reliability issues.
  • Trouble-shoot equipment problems as required utilising maintenance system reports to identify bad actors.
  • Lead and participate in equipment related investigations.
  • Deliver maintenance systems improvements and identify technical opportunities.
  • Maintenance contact for input to new project scope, design and commissioning through to system handover.
  • Engage with capital projects from the start of the project lifecycle to ensure that equipment purchased is fit for purpose and aligned with current site standards and expertise.
  • Manage the site Maintenance Change Request (MCR) system. Assign preventative maintenance activities and calibration schedule to new/modified components in line with site & industry standards.
  • Generation of project handover packs to maintenance including setup/modification of components on Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Identify critical spare parts for equipment as part of the overall project lifecycle process.
  • Set up and periodically review maintenance service contracts.
  • Responsible for the coordination of maintenance activities of specified equipment.
  • Plan and resource programme of work for maintenance shutdowns.
  • Identify/implement/co-ordinate maintenance specific projects.
  • Develop/update SOPs as required for maintenance operations.
  • Adhere to all GMP, quality, safety, and environmental standards related to maintenance activities.
  • Participate in the site Safety & Quality Commitments programme.

Education:
A third level qualification and/or a trade qualification in a suitable engineering discipline.

Experience/Skills:

  • Previous experience of working in a GMP environment preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make timely decisions.
  • Proven communication and relationship building ability.
