MAINTENANCE FITTER:

We are actively recruiting for a Maintenance Fitter position based in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will be a certified red seal artisan boasting a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience in either a production or maintenance setting. This role is with a well-established company specialising in a wide array of cereals and biscuits, which are key staples within the food industry.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Completion of Trade Test or relevant artisan qualification.
• Red Seal Artisan certification.
• Experience in welding stainless steel, mild steel, and alloy steel advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in production or maintenance environments.
• Possession of a Valid Driver’s License.
• Capability to execute duties in accordance with maintenance programs and drive continuous improvements.
• Methodical and logical approach; proficiency in minor electronic fault-finding beneficial.
• Knowledge of HACCP and GMP beneficial.
• Experience in the food industry advantageous.
• Familiarity with boilers, ovens, and packing machines beneficial.
• Ability to engage with employees at various levels.

• Oversee and coordinate the maintenance of machinery and equipment across various departments.
• Carry out regular maintenance checks and adhere to scheduled maintenance programs for each machine.
• Manage and control the inventory of spare parts, including usage and costs.
• Keep accurate maintenance records as stipulated by requirements.
• Identify and implement measurable technical and process improvements.
• Respond promptly to any equipment breakdowns.
• Procure necessary equipment and tools for the factory when required.
• Attend relevant meetings, such as Production Meetings, as necessary.
• Assist production in achieving optimum efficiencies.
• Perform fault identification, conduct root cause analysis, and ensure the accurate completion of production logs and job cards.
• Advise on and implement technical and cost-effective improvements.
• Ensure a safe working environment by complying with safety procedures.
• Be available for after-hours callouts as needed.
• Ensure that maintenance work is carried out in accordance with agreed expectations, timelines, and company standards.
• Coach, mentor, and train apprentices as necessary.
