Description:

Position: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance & Engineering
Reports to: Director of Engineering & Technical Services
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Dayshift

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Knowledge is required in all manufacturing processes, equipment, tools, infrastructure, product specifications, facilities maintenance, customer quality requirements, and people management systems and procedures.
The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that the maintenance department operates efficiently and effectively through effective resource management and that quality, housekeeping, hygiene, and safety standards are always adhered to. You will act as an ambassador for GPI and play an integral role in establishing the correct Greiner values and behaviors within the organization.

EDUCATION (DEGREE/MAJOR) & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or relevant work experience in maintenance & reliability field.
  • 3-5 years in Maintenance/Production Reliability or related field in a high-speed manufacturing environment and minimum 2 years direct supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, Ladder logic, robotic / automation systems

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  1. Detailed knowledge of Greiner Packaging and product technologies, data analysis skills, broad understanding of related technologies.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard office machines and computer software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  3. Knowledge of standard accepted troubleshooting, repair, reliability and effective planning & labor utilization strategies.
  4. Working knowledge of manufacturing industry (plastics processing preferred).
  5. Business understanding and teambuilding skills.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. General understanding of basic physics, engineering, chemistry, math.
  8. Uses data and proven methods to analyze, troubleshoot, and develop solutions to problems.
  9. Technical and working knowledge of VF and DC drives, PLCs, HMI, equipment network control technologies, and preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
  10. Knowledge and experience with the use of product and facility related costs and the ability to develop cost reduction.
  11. Knowledge and experience with installation, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment, electrical distribution, and complex control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance, and process excellence
  • Provide direction and management of shopfloor maintenance staff to effectively install and assist in commissioning new production and infrastructure machines & equipment.
  • Establish team and individual accountabilities for problem solving, machine uptime while minimizing repair costs.
  • Supervise and direct immediate repairs on equipment & facilities.
  • Ensure effective labor utilization within departments to allow for maximum return on labor investment.
  • Supervise/manage direct reports (including decision-making for hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and discharge).
  • Ensure coordination of planned down time with production scheduling & maintenance coordinator.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure effective management of human capital.
  • Maintain SQF & ISO compliant maintenance procedures & records.
  • Lead efforts to establish and maintenance processes for machine, tool & infrastructure maintenance.
  • Review MES data for management of breakdown time to perform Root Cause & Failure Analysis.
  • Implement and monitor future CMMS program.
  • Assist with budget development and spending control for departments and facility.
  • Leads the Total Preventive Maintenance Program to ensure machines are properly maintained.
  • Establish a predictive maintenance program using MES trend analysis.
  • Assists with stockroom inventory management and cost control.
  • Provide On-Call assistance as needed to maintenance & production personnel.
  • Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures.
