JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the Maintenance Department is to support production, to prevent and/or minimize down time and to keep Bay Valley Foods, New Hampton running as efficiently as possible.

  • Complete assigned planned maintenance on time.
  • Complete tasks from work orders assigned in time allotted.
  • Ensure assigned spaces are kept in a clean and free of clutter.
  • Work closely with the production supervisor on production needs.
  • Comply with the requirements defined within the contents of the GMP’S, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), LO/TO procedures, and Food Safety programs with the Confined Space Entry requirements program established by Bay Valley Foods.
  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed at all time to minimize the injuries to yourself and others.
  • Be available for on-call and work overtime during inspection preparations, capital projects and downtime.
  • Sanitize tools before the start of each shift and after using them.
  • Turn in all completed work orders and Daily Shift Maintenance Summery Report to maintenance manager or shop foreman at the end of each day.
  • Clean the shop and put away all tools and parts at the end of your shift.
  • Responsible to complete training courses as designated by the maintenance manager.
  • Knowledge of operating procedures in the dryer, mix, packaging and warehouse departments
  • Obtain a working knowledge to a troubleshooting and repair level of plant equipment and process.
  • Obtain a working knowledge to a troubleshooting and repair level of all dryer safeties including the Atex system, the Deluge system and the steam system.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the waste treatment system and the effects of the SPCC program and environmental programs.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of boiler operations and chemical testing. To understand the effects of changing chemical levels.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Will walk/stand for the duration of up to a 12-hour shift and be able to twist, bend, stoop and reach.
  • Will climb stairs, ladders, equipment scaffolding, tanks and heights as required.
  • Will enter confined space areas as required.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Will use one or both hands to hold, grip, and use tools required for duties, including but not limited to a utility knife.
  • Will hear and talk on an ongoing basis in an atmosphere of moderate and loud noise.
  • Will work in and around cold water or hot water up to 185° F.
  • Will work in cold, warm, hot, humid and/or wet conditions.
  • Will have the ability to operate proficiently in an SAP environment; including but not limited to using an RF (radio frequency) device, print and place tags, and able to effectively use a scanner and related portable equipment.

  • Will work in all areas of the facility, both inside and outside, and on all floors in the facility.
