JOB SUMMARY

The Management Accountant role reports directly into the Financial Controller and requires full understanding of management/financial accounts, year-end processes, accounting standards and internal controls & processes. As a key member of the Finance team you will be assisting in the timely and accurate preparation and production of all financial reports for the business and Group reporting. You will be a fully qualified accountant with demonstrable hands on accounts experience. You will possess excellent analytical skills and be able to prepare management information for both internal and external stakeholders.
The business is profitable, with a full order book primed for significant growth. The business has taken strides towards its growth opportunities with its newly developed state of the art Manufactur-ing and Engineering facility, which is near its old site. The business is continuously evolving making the environment dynamic for continuous improvement. The Management Accountant will be responsible for challenging the available data and interpreting the meaning behind the numbers to assist with business improvement projects. You will need to work with all areas of the business and can explain findings and requirements using non-technical language.
The Management Accountant will be an ambassador and role model for IMI Truflo Marine and will act with integrity and in accordance with company policies at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with a strong understanding and working knowledge of basic financial accounting standards (UK GAAP/ IFRS) and control environment.
  • Able to work pro-actively, using their own initiative to identify opportunities for process, automation and systems improvements.
  • Ability to interpret and constructively challenge large volumes of data, ensuring a high level of accuracy is maintained.
  • Ability to use the data available to drive action or additional improvement projects to challenge business using non-technical language.
  • Technically astute with strong analytical and IT skills, with the ability to manipulate data to produce useful management information. To support this, competent user of Excel (SQL and EFACS/ Cognos experience is ideal but not required).
  • Ability to manage multiple demanding priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic function.
  • Sophisticated communication skills in non-technical language with good written and verbal English.

Responsibilities:

The Management Accountant will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and detailed financial forecasts in readiness for Group submission within the pre-defined timescales. This includes basic journal posting; balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of P&L/ balance sheet/ cash flow.
  • Support the ongoing development of the Truflo Marine rolling monthly forecasting process and quarterly Group forecasting process to ensure high quality information is delivered on time. Ensure deliverables and responsibilities are clearly understood.
  • Inventory controls from valuation through to typical movements of inventory such as; Goods Receipt through to WIP, Despatch and Scrappage. In addition, supporting the quarterly and yearly Inventory Counts process.
  • Preparation and review of project margins. Ability to interpret this data and deduce key findings to drive a business wide lesson learnt process and business improvements.
  • Produce in depth, challenging and competent financial analysis and support to the business covering aspects such as inventory; provisions; labour absorption; Cost Centre Reporting and project & cost accounting.
  • Seek to continuously improve accounting activities and controls/ processes for the business implementing agreed improvements.
  • Preparation and review of monthly Cost of Sales Analysis. Ability to interpret this data and deduce key findings to drive a business wide lesson learnt process and business improvements.
  • Review; improve and design accounting and related system reports and processes for accuracy and completeness and ensure adherence to accounting practices as outlined by the department
  • Support the development of junior members of the finance team to ensure the teams future succession plan.
  • Act as a key contact and liaison with external audit teams, producing the relevant work papers and analysis to support on the statutory accounts and tax pack preparation.
