About the team
Corporate Servicesteams at Metro are responsible for providing essential support services that enable the business to function efficiently and effectively. From Safety and People, Marketing and Communication, to Finance and Legal, and IT. Our Corporate Services teams work collaboratively to ensure that the business operates smoothly and as one team.
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support the Project’s Financial Controller and the wider Finance Teams across the Projects Division as part of Victoria’s Big Build Program. This role will partner with the business to provide financial support, provide insights for decision making and to maximise outcomes for the business. This role will implement and improve current policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance across the Project Division.

About the role

  • Process accruals/journals and finalising month end and year end accounts
  • Ensure timesheet compliance and that Labour month end requirements including labour true up
  • Support with ad hoc analysis of spends
  • Financial management of external and agency works including reporting on monthly profitability and performance
  • Support with audit queries and respond within a timely manner
  • You’ll support the Financial Controller to deliver on reporting, analysis and provide insights to support the business

About you

  • Must have a degree qualified in Business or Accounting – prerequisite
  • CPA/CA qualified or working towards
  • Experience and knowledge of key accounting concepts
  • Understands financial management, financial reporting systems, management information systems
  • Preparation and collation of financial information
  • Have strong experience using Excel and Microsoft suites
  • Communicates with influence to a range of different stakeholders across the business
  • Multitask and prioritise competing demands and significant volumes of work
  • Ability to work independently and at the same time work effectively in a team environment
