About our Destination Development & Marketing Group
The Destination Development & Marketing Group is focused on driving sustainable year-round visitation through program and initiatives that positively impact Edmonton’s image and awareness in regional and international markets. More specifically on the destination development side, we help develop and showcase the amazing tourism experiences Edmonton has to offer visitors. We work closely with local businesses, ground operators, attractions, experience providers and festivals to help develop products and experiences that are authentic to Edmonton.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Global Marketing team is looking for a Brand Marketing Manager. This will be an 18-month maternity leave coverage. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Manager, Brand Marketing leads the project management and production of creative assets across Explore Edmonton’s brands (K-Days, Farmfair International, Canadian Finals Rodeo, Rodeo Week, Edmonton Urban Farm, Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre). They support ongoing brand strategies for Explore Edmonton (brand platform, brand architecture strategy, purpose and promise, values, and verbal identity (voice), ensuring alignment with Explore Edmonton’s strategic goals and initiatives.
This position oversees the creative elements of both internal and external facing branded documents and campaign collateral and is the go-to resource for brand enquiries and is responsible for ensuring compliance across all projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for the Brand & Design team, facilitating collaboration, providing regular updates, and managing feedback and approvals on creative projects.
  • Utilizing resource management tool (Asana) to gain visibility into resource availability, identify bottlenecks, and optimize work allocation.
  • Managing workloads and assign internal team members and external contractors on projects based on skill sets, availability, and project priorities, ensuring alignment with Explore Edmonton’s strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Overseeing the quality assurance process, ensuring that projects meet client requirements, adhere to brand guidelines, and achieve the desired creative objectives.
  • Fostering a collaborative environment, ensure effective communication, and bridge the gap between project stakeholders to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Managing resources, prioritize tasks, and proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks to meet deadlines without compromising on quality.
  • Monitoring and enforcing proper brand usage for the Explore Edmonton brand and all related sub-brands (K-Days, Farmfair International, Canadian Finals Rodeo, Rodeo Week, Edmonton Urban Farm, Edmonton Convention Centre, Edmonton EXPO Centre) to ensure each is consistent and guidelines are followed.
  • Providing implementation strategies and support for ongoing brand initiatives (ExtraUnordinary)
  • Collaborating with the Graphic Design Specialist to lead, monitor, and coach the Brand & Design team with direct responsibility for building Explore Edmonton’s brands across all facets of the Global Marketing strategy.
  • Working cross departmentally to develop and maintain strong working relationships with the broader visitor economy and Explore Edmonton Corporation teams.
  • Providing operational support, direction and coaching as required.
  • Budgeting and contributing to the monthly forecasts.
  • Contributing to Global Marketing business planning and yearly benchmarking

The successful candidate will have:

  • Post-secondary education in business (marketing), or communications, or design preferred
  • 5+ years experience in Marketing or Design
  • 3+ years experience in Project Management, PMP certification preferred
  • Excellent people and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to multitask and is solution driven
  • Experience in marketing & communications, project management, graphic design
  • Knowledgeable about the latest in digital and social media trends
  • Strong understanding of Adobe suite software
  • Strong understanding of Asana software
  • PMP Certification an asset
