BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of business development or a combination of business development and client-facing experience at a matrixed professional services firm
  • Fluent in English
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Proven record of lead generation and a track record in client conversion
  • A proven history of developing long term client relationships at all levels of client organizations including C-Suite
  • Familiar with building and managing account plans and CRM sales activity
  • Proactive and results-oriented team player with demonstrated ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Business Development Manager role is key to driving growth at FTI South Africa. Responsible for identifying opportunities, managing client relationships, and handling proposal management, this position plays a crucial role in expanding our market presence. Reporting to the Senior Managing Director - country leader and indirectly to the COO MEA, this role contributes to our strategic objectives with enthusiasm and expertise.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Management and segmentation of FTI South Africa’s client list
  • Creation and management of account plans (key relationships; interactions; 30/60/90-day plan etc.)
  • Actively check for new opportunities (consultation with segments/tender databases etc.), allocate to segments, drive go/no go decisions with management.
  • Facilitate collaboration on cross-regional and cross-segment sales activities with an emphasis on retention of and cross-selling to existing clients, and the cultivation of new clients.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of core clients, core targets (including target client profile) and client buying patterns, as well as the competitive landscape.
  • Own the RFQ/RFP process, registering with and monitoring relevant government portals and newspapers for opportunities and responding to pitches.
  • Work with all segments to document service offerings (pitch packs)
  • Prepare client service professionals for client meetings with client intelligence and relationship mapping.
  • Generic proposal writing (i.e., proposal template and flow including task allocation) ensuring standardised template is used and latest FTI information is included and FTI branding policy is adhere to.
  • Management of FTI reference letters/tombstones, credentials ensuring these are obtained when projects are closed.
  • Managing of FTI South Africa Case Studies per segment are obtained when projects are closed/ ongoing.
  • Track and manage the pursuits pipeline for the region and update leadership monthly.
  • Identify business development best practices and coach and educate team on the right opportunities and support strategy and implementation planning.
  • Closely monitor market, social and political news, and events to identify opportunities.
  • Create and manage a Sales Force Dashboard, creating a view of pipeline vs. budget/forecast per segment with weekly submission to segment heads and South African country leader.
  • Build a relationship with FTI Sales Force experts and look at opportunities to consolidate for all segments in-country.
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as needed.
