Description:

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS) this position is responsible for internal (academic) and external services (revenue generation) operational needs and effectiveness for the Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS). The CAMS Manager is a unique position that will ensure operational efficiency using non-academic times to provide revenue while maintaining quality and accreditation standards. The Manager will also be responsible for CAMS projects oversight, including coordination, implementation, execution, and ensuring consistency with commitments and goals.
While the Manager oversees the outcomes of effective operations, their focus is strategic and forward looking. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the programming operations they oversee are structured and supported by teams of cross-functional professionals who can manage daily operations with a good deal of independence and autonomy, aligned to the strategic direction provided, and within NAIT policy and procedural frameworks.
Key responsibilities will include planning and coordinating the operational needs of CAMS and developing and implementing strategies and efficiencies at the Centre’s level. Accountabilities will include assisting in the preparation and review of department financial plans, working collaboratively with other areas of the Institute including the SHLS Programs, Finance, Student Recruitment, Industry Solutions, Research Ethics Board, HR and others to ensure the needs of the Centre are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Related degree; business degrees are an asset
  • Experience in a post-secondary learning environment is an asset
  • Healthcare related experience is preferred
  • Healthcare simulation experience is an asset
    Remuneration: $87,684.22 - $116,170.86 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – MGMT).

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a portfolio of staff that may include Simulation Technologists, Educational Technologists, Patient Models, Project Coordinators, Program Assistants, contract instructors, and other staff as operationally required
  • Sources and recruits a range of qualified casual instructors, Education Technologists, Simulation Technologists, and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Ensures mentoring and coaching opportunities are provided to staff
  • Provides consultative support to contract instructors
  • Encourages staff development and growth with training in new technologies
  • Determines which new technologies are adopted within CAMS
  • Ensures simulations are delivered as scheduled and are of high quality, meeting accreditation standards
  • Manages fluctuating staffing levels as a response to CAMS schedules, including internal and external bookings and financial sustainability
  • Coordinates with operations across multiple departments to ensure access to required support staff
  • Ensures all (SSH) accreditation standards are met
  • Facilitates faculty development within CAMS and the SHLS
  • Proactively seeks out and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Responds to internal/external factors affecting CAMS delivery and best practices
  • Leads the implementation of projects, assembles and coordinates project staff, and facilitates with project teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Manages project budget and resources and executes project tasks and resource requirements
  • Coordinates ongoing review, evaluation, and revision of program content to maintain relevancy, effectiveness, adherence to best practices and connection to industry
  • Ensures new external bookings are developed on time, on-budget, and according to contracts and scope of work specifications
  • Identifies new service needs and assists the Director in coordinating the financing, design, development, approval, and delivery of such new services
  • Engages in forward-looking research activity and exploration efforts to identify new ideas/opportunities (internally and externally)
