Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with the Customer Group at Corporate and Rest of Africa customer teams by providing financial support through data analysis, financial modelling, and business cases to support strategic initiatives.
  • Challenging the output and analysing variances to prior year and forecasts.
  • Reporting on key metrics and provide insightful information to the Customer Group teams.
  • Model commercial propositions and provide adhoc analysis on business requests.KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVESTASKSBUDGET & FORECASTS
  • Manage the end-to-end process of designing budget templates for base management and key performance indicators and distributing to African markets.
  • Support the senior manager in collaborating with the in-market teams to ensure that budget holders monitor and understand base management and key performance indicators.
  • Use insights and knowledge to advise and challenge the output and analyse variances to prior year and forecasts.
  • Present final consolidated view of key performance drivers and variance analysis to Senior Manager: Commercial Business Partner.
  • Lead or participate in commercial projects, initiatives, and process improvements to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and revenue optimisation.BUSINESS CASE DEVELOPMENT
  • Support the senior manager,markets and ExCo in the creation/ validation of business cases to support key strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare businesspresentations and present the business case to the Senior Manager: Commercial Business Partner and project owner.
  • Define key KPI’s to measure the success of the business case.
  • Measure the results of the business case.
  • Prepare a final close out report and present to Senior Manager: Commercial Business Partner and project owner.FINANCIAL PLANNING AND ANALYSIS
  • Establish close relationships with key decision makers in the Customer Group to understand their priories and challenges and how best the team can support them.
  • Manipulate large volumes of data to provide insights around key KPi’s.
  • Provide analysis to support plans and actions to deliver business strategy.
  • Assist in the preparation of business cases and presentations to the requester.
  • Work with Head of Sales & CVM to develop a quarterly Sales and CVM canvas with accurate view of the financial impact of the offers.
  • Work with Head of Sales as well as in-market to determine best sales acquisition price strategy considering price elasticity and impact on trading profit.
  • Model commercial propositions detailing revenue generation initiatives aimed at achieving commercial objectives.
  • Use insights and knowledge to advise and challenge.
  • Provide training and assistance to markets on performance indicators when required.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Manage the commercial analytics team to deliver reporting and analysis to support commercial performance.
  • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
  • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
  • Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from Human Capital (HC).
  • Approve leave requests for team members and create leave plan to ensure adequate coverage.
  • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from HC when required.
  • Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.
  • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
  • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised.QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Financial Management / Accounting / Engineering or Sciences
  • CA (SA) advantageousEXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in planning and target setting, data analysis, financial modelling
  • Media or Telco background
  • Experience in working with African markets would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and ability to collect and analyse data, using a combination of primary and secondary research tools, to extrapolate/derive actionable insights.
