POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting the Chief Operations Officer, the Manager, Continuous Improvements will be responsible for delivering large scale improvements to manufacturing operations across the company. This role will be a part of Sofina’s CI organization focused on driving operational excellence across the business. The incumbent will be driving TPM, LEAN and OEE methodologies across a multi-plant network, with a critical focus on Process Reliability, Plant Capacity, Waste Elimination, Product Optimization, Planned Maintenance and Building Capability of plant personnel.
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, a mindset of continuous improvement and mentorship skills are essential to succeed in this role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Lead product and process optimization projects across the organization to help drive organization’s key performance indicators.
  • Support product & process engineers, as well as plant leadership teams to drive step-change and breakthrough improvements in safety, quality, productivity, service, cost and environment
  • Drive a relentless focus on development of Manufacturing Standards and daily management systems to ensure sustainable business performance – including the Training and Qualification of Equipment Operators.
  • Build Technical Mastery and Critical Partnerships with Equipment Designers and Machine Suppliers for the purpose of delivering more cost-efficient production processes and improved Manufacturing Standards for the Equipment Operator;
  • Manage the Start-up of new equipment and manufacturing processes at multiple manufacturing sites, including Acceptance testing, Commissioning, Qualification, and Performance Based Training;
  • Lead Collaborative Teamwork on projects across Operations, QA, H&S, Finance and HR to deliver superior results;
  • Oversight for cross functional and high impact projects at production sites;
  • Provide guidance and advice to process engineers as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience implementing and leading LEAN, TPM and Process Reliability/OEE methodologies;
  • Experience driving Root Cause Problem Solving, Waste Elimination, Equipment Breakdown Elimination and the Qualification and Training other others;
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Chemical Engineering;
  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar capacity in a Manufacturing environment;
  • Possesses a positive working attitude, willingness to learn new skills and appreciation of other points of view;
  • Strong ability to manage details, organize facts and meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency with an ability to prioritize and delegate;
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and coordinate activities with team members.
  • 50% or more travel required within Canada.
