[What the role is]
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes. AVS works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our City in Nature.
[What you will be working on]
As part of the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation under the Professional and Scientific Services Division, your role as manager/senior manager will involve operations and research relating to the welfare, behaviour and rehabilitation of animals.

Your job scope as a manager includes:

  • Manage duties required in the centre to ensure smooth functioning, including procurement and management of inventory and contract services, supervision of contractors, planning and budgeting, data management and analysis, regular maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment, workplace health and safety, and managerial duties
  • Assist with animal operations, including handling public enquiries, liaison with external parties such as the public, volunteers and Animal Welfare Groups on enquiries and the Centre’s programmes, animal care and husbandry.
  • Assist with the different activities and programmes related to the Centre.

[What are we looking for]

  • Degree in veterinary medicine, biology, life sciences or other relevant discipline is preferred
  • Experience managing tenders, contracts and workers; and project management is preferred
  • Relevant working experience in shelter management, animal care or husbandry is preferred
  • Relevant experience in behaviour assessments, behaviour modification and animal handling, especially under animal shelter contexts is preferred
  • Strong management and communication skills, independent, self-motivated, meticulous and enthusiastic
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Expected to work with animals.
  • Good written/ oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Applications.
