Description:

Unit: Creative City
Location: Council Centre
Employment status: Permanent Full-time
Classification: Municipal Officer Level 7A
Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2021

Salary range: $141,230 to $166,649 per annum + 12.5% superannuation. You will also receive private use of a motor vehicle, car spot plus laptop and mobile phone.

Responsibilities:

This role plays a crucial part in fostering Hobart’s cultural and creative landscape by strategically guiding the Creative City Unit. The primary objective is to position Hobart as a vibrant creative hub, enhancing the city’s vitality through various artistic and cultural programs

Role accountabilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement strategies that align with the Community Vision and the Capital City Strategic Plan.
  • Promote Hobart as a leading creative city both locally and internationally.
  • Program and Event Development:
  • Design, manage, and evaluate a diverse range of creative programs and events.
  • Ensure these initiatives contribute to the city’s cultural enrichment and community engagement.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships:
  • Foster partnerships with local artists, cultural organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with different sectors to integrate creative practices into the broader community.
  • Resource Management:
  • Efficiently manage resources, including budgets and staff, to maximise the impact of creative initiatives.
  • Secure funding and sponsorship opportunities to support creative projects.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Engage with the community to understand their needs and aspirations.
  • Ensure that creative programs are inclusive and accessible to all residents.
  • Advocacy and Promotion:
  • Advocate for the arts and cultural sector within the city’s governance framework.
  • Promote Hobart’s creative achievements to enhance its cultural reputation.
