Main Duties

• Standard Duties:
• Supervise and guide the team with the overall performance accountability of subordinates
• Conduct annual appraisals and support in setting individual development plan and targets of subordinates
• Support the unit head in ensuring appropriate staffing levels, conducting interviews and hiring of new staff
• Support in development, implementation and ensure adherence of policies and procedures
• Department Specific:
• Research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production lifecycle.
• Participation in the software development lifecycle: implementation, tests, documentation, maintenance of software in the GUI, business logic and database layers.
• Handle the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
• Produce clear, readable and maintainable code
• Analyse and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required.
• Develop database solutions to store and retrieve information
• Install and configure information systems to ensure functionality
• Analyse structural requirements for new software and applications
• Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
• Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
• Define security and backup procedures
• Provide operational support

Work Experience Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in professional database design and development
• Experience in working as part of a small to medium-sized development team
• Experience in health insurance sector

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Relevant technologies certifications are a plus

Education Bachelor degree in Computer Science, engineering or a related technical discipline Skills & Competencies

• Very good knowledge about software engineering best practices:
• Design for long-term maintainability
• Design for high scalability and robustnessAbility to
• design and coding conventions without supervisor intervention
• Application of software design patterns and best practices
• Version control and configuration management
• Source code version control system (SVN, Bitbucket)
• Basic knowledge about service oriented architecture (SOA) and enterprise application integration (EAI) concepts
• Basic knowledge about software development methodologies like the Rational Unified Process and Scrum
• Very good command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage
• Very good analytical, planning, forecasting, execution and problem solving skills
• Ability to acquire and apply new skills
• Flexible and able to work under pressure
• Respect and promote trust and confidentiality
• Results oriented whilst ensuring high quality of work and able to “think out of the box”
• Strong level of customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions

• Good knowledge of health insurance concepts
• Experience and knowledge in PL/SQL and .NET API creation
• Good knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. integration with Excel , Word etc.)
• Advanced SQL and be able to write complex logic using SQL as part of ETL, and use SQL effectively to perform complex data analysis and discovery
• Ability to troubleshoot, optimize and performance-tune existing SQL code
• Ability to perform data analysis/discovery and communicate results in business friendly terms
• This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure Information Management.
• Very good knowledge in a number of the following technologies:
• Very good knowledge about the features and limitations of the Oracle and/or SQL Server Database
• Strong knowledge of software implementation best practices
