Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Electrical/Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our development team in the Development and Design practice portfolio for the DC business in CapitaLand.
This position will be responsible for overseeing development projects and reviewing solutions for CapitaLand Data Centres, Built-To-Suit applications for Data Centres and as part of the solutions team to support sales and consult with customers in the Global Data Centre business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee, support & liaise with regional development teams, consultants and internal teams to understand the project requirement/scope/needs such that the products are delivered successfully.
  • Serve as part of the development team for Southeast Asia liaising with consultants and internal stakeholders to understand implement the project requirement/scope/needs.
  • Review required development & design documentation to ensure that they successfully meet project needs and provide good value proposition for the company.
  • Provide SME engineering support to the DC team during project life cycle in terms of process, tools required, procedures, regulatory compliance, Dos and Don’ts, technical interpretations and support, and ensure quality
  • In a consultative manner, work with and support the Sales team in technical sales and solutions in all markets including:
  • Direct prospect engagements, including leading building and site tours, sales calls and proposal generation, and pricing and contract negotiations
  • Evaluate customer needs, and then architect and present a preliminary solution together with other SMEs in the team
  • Generate sales leads through professional contacts and networking
  • Participate in forecasting, pipeline, market analysis and evaluate trends in prospect, customer and target tenant base
  • Liaise with the professional community, including attending technical forums and presenting papers at industry events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering)
  • At least 6 to 8 years’ experience in the mechanical engineering industry, of which 4 years in designing mechanical systems for critical applications such as data centres
  • In depth understanding of systems design
  • Understanding on best practices and standards in systems design, installation and operation requirement
  • Customer-facing skills preferably developed in customer facing roles, and a demonstrated ability to talk with high tech users and customers intelligently about cloud, enterprise IT, data centre or similar solutions
  • Technical savvy with deep experience in Data Centre, Cloud, Hybrid Cloud and Telecommunications and Networking
  • A strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service to clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical and business concepts quickly
  • Effectively respond, verbally or in writing, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints
  • Make effective presentations and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public
  • Work well under pressure and take a proactive approach to unusual occurrences
  • Expert application software skills in MS Projects, MS Word, MS Excel, Visio
  • AutoCAD proficiency is a must
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and open to new ideas and procedures
  • Applicant must be willing for short duration overseas travel
