About the job:
The Red Hat Payroll team is looking for a Payroll Manager for the EMEA Payroll team to join us for a Maternity Cover (1 year Contract). In this role, you’ll need to have a proven record of processing payrolls and/or leading multiple countries across the EMEA region in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also need to have extensive statutory and legislation knowledge in the EMEA region. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of payroll processing, including managing the third-party vendors and a team of payroll professionals located in the Cork, Ireland location. Your duties will include a full array of appropriate customer service tasks supporting all aspects of the team. As a Payroll Manager, you’ll need to be able to efficiently use your payroll experience while following local regulations as well as Red Hat’s specific policies and processes. You will partner and collaborate with other regional payroll managers, the Global Partner Enablement (GPE) team and other internal/external stakeholders to deliver payroll services, optimize operational excellence and create a deeper bench of experienced talent within the payroll production team.

What you will do:

  • Manage and ensure the completion of a compliant, accurate, and timely end-to-end payroll processing, including compensation/benefit inputs, master data changes, taxation, general ledger reconciliations, and any exception pay
  • Responsible for people management and development, including recruiting, retaining, coaching/mentoring, training, and managing workload
  • Responsible for review of payroll policies and procedures to ensure processes are efficient and effective, including implementation of process improvements
  • Report to senior management on payroll issues and changes
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional areas such as People, Finance, IT, and Third Party vendors
  • Oversee reports and data requests from management, cross-functional workstreams, and internal/external auditors
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure service delivery and performance expectations in accordance to contractual obligations
  • Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to increase quality, improve employee experience, and enable rapid scaling
  • Ensure all processes are executed in accordance with established business and SOX controls
  • Act as point of escalation and work to identify, track, document, and resolve errors, issues and risks proactively
  • Conduct regular audits on payroll procedures and records
  • Assess and manage ServiceNow tickets to ensure team performance is aligned with SLAs and expected customer service level
  • Maintain and report payroll accuracy metrics, partnering with other cross-functional teams to address challenges and implement improvements
  • Oversee special initiatives and projects as needed, including system changes and testing.

What you will bring:

  • 5 to 7 years prior work experience in a fast paced Payroll or HR/Finance department environment
  • 5 to 7 years prior work experience directly coaching, developing, mentoring a staff of 5 or more people with proven management capabilities.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Workday, ADP Streamline or Globalview
  • Advanced working knowledge of local payroll policies, including Business Traveler Tax Compliance, overtime and termination regulations for the EMEA region.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (advanced Excel skills would be an asset)
  • Advanced Excel processing experience
  • Individual must be able to easily learn new applications, interpret and analyze payroll data, while being innovative and having the ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required in order to effectively resolve issues with associates, Legal, etc. while sustaining a high level of confidentiality inherent to Payroll matters.
  • Proven ability to work in an organized manner with the ability to manage time effectively to meet strict deadlines, at times handling multiple tasks concurrently while maintaining proper prioritization.
  • Must be self-motivated with the capability to think and act independently with strong attention to detail as well as potential risk issues
