Lilly Canada is searching for a Manager - Employee Development and DEI Projects to lead the creation and implementation of the company’s employee development & DEI strategies and delivery at Lilly Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT SKILLS:

  • 5+ Years of learning and development or relevant cross-functional experience.
  • A university degree plus the completion of relevant professional development work (Learning and Development and/or DEI)
  • Capacity to contribute to long-term strategy around building capability and an inclusive culture.
  • Excellent organizational and documenting skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to learn quickly, adopt technology, and lead affiliate-wide projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within various functions and teams in Canada, global DEI office and Leadership Development teams, etc.
  • Ability to Influence in all directions.
  • Anticipate needs and effectively consult with business partners internally and externally.
  • Challenge unit level leaders and business partners to prioritize and align.
  • Comfortably work with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrate high learning agility.
  • Understand and integrate development with other talent management, DEI and HR related programs (pm, development plans, career mapping).
  • Apply knowledge of adult learning, blended learning and modern learning principles.
  • Use multi-media training channels, video training, simulations and role-playing, online training, and gamification. Facilitate in both virtual and live sessions.
  • Use learning management systems such as success factors.
  • Bilingual (English-French) written and verbal skills is an asset.
    The position is located in Toronto and office-based employees are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 4-12 days a month. Flexible work arrangement are possible.

Responsibilities:

This new role is inspired by a desire to create an agile and inclusive learning culture - one that enables employees to demonstrate their ability to quickly adapt to new environments, new protocols and shifting market demands. You will help transform the affiliate learning culture to one that integrates learning into day-to-day work and inspires employees to adopt an employee- driven learning mindset to fuel employee growth, continuous learning, and desire to build their career with Lilly. Our goal is to embed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in everything that we do, therefore the Manager - Employee Development and DEI Projects will help ensure that all employee development activities allow employees to bring their full authentic selves to work.
Reporting into the associate VP Human Resources and a member of the HR team, you will collaborate closely with cross functional teams to identify skills gaps, prioritized capabilities and desired performance outcomes. You will coordinate all Canadian employee offerings into a cohesive, sustainable and adaptable framework scoped to local resources and capacity. You will also create and manage a measurement strategy, identifying what is working well and where the programs must flex to meet the needs of the learner, leader and/or organization.
You will actively market your educational offerings, share your philosophy around learning, encourage managers to talk up training and development opportunities and integrate into recruitment and onboarding processes. You will own and continue to enhance our Connect-U (onboarding) and Develop-U (ongoing employee development) programs.
You will work closely and build a strong network with the Lilly global leadership development team for expertise, sourcing and replication of content, and alignment of these various learning opportunities to local talent management strategies, succession management, and employee needs. You will be versatile in blended learning and offer virtual and in-class experiences. These programs will range in levels and stages of leadership and therefore must be coordinated in close partnership with business to coordinate timing, phasing and audience for optimal impact.
The Manager, Employee Development and DEI Initiatives will also serve as the co-Chair of the Lilly Canada DEI Council. You will be responsible to lead the annual delivery of prioritized initiatives from the DEI Council and help our affiliate reach its DEI aspirations. You will also ensure optimal connections with the Global DEI office and look for ongoing opportunities to improve the overall employee experience. You will serve as an expert to the different local employee resource groups and other DEI partners for various programing, including cultural events and learning strategies.
