POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Employee Relations Manager at Calian, you’ll report directly to the Director of HR, spearheading the day-to-day operations of our Employee Relations team. Your leadership will set the standard for excellence, inspiring your team to deliver exceptional service recognized throughout the organization.
In this pivotal role, you’ll foster positive relationships between our employees and the company, collaborating closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to develop and implement strategies that enhance engagement, communication, and overall satisfaction. You’ll lead conflict resolution efforts, ensure compliance with employment laws, and contribute to a vibrant organizational culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • College diploma in a relevant field such as Business Management – HR Management.

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in various HR or business leadership roles.
  • 3 years’ experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and guide teams and advise management.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills across multiple functional areas.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Track record of delivering outcomes through others and scaling team impact.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead the Employee Relations team, driving efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
  • Cultivate engagement within the team, offering regular feedback, recognition, and personalized support.
  • Establish a workplace culture aligned with Calian’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Develop strong relationships with assigned teams, anticipating their needs and providing HR support.
  • Foster collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless experiences for all.

Employee Relations Services

  • Provide solutions and guidance aligned with legal compliance and Calian policies.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs, managers, and employees on company programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead company terminations and offboarding processes.
  • Stay abreast of provincial legislation to ensure compliance across all regions of operation.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers regarding leaves of absence.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs on complex employee relations issues, offering recommendations and monitoring outcomes.
  • Guide HR Advisors on complex WSIB claims and leaves of absence.

Structure and Process Management

  • Plan, evaluate, and improve business processes and procedures.
  • Establish operating procedures for the Employee Relations team.
  • Work proactively with HRBPs and business units to meet or exceed service expectations.
  • Participate in or lead Process Improvement Teams.
