Design Department
As integral part of the EMEA Development Group, the core objective of the Design team is to drive design innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement to enable the delivery of cost-effective and high-quality infrastructure, delivered safely and always on time. Striving for operational excellence, we specialize in pioneering technical design solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
Position Description
Vantage is searching for a passionate, results-oriented, and an experienced Manager, Engineering to oversee the strategic growth of our Mainland Europe engineering team. In this critical role, you’ll play a pivotal part in driving the expansion of our data center footprint across existing and new markets. You’ll manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs) with diverse experience levels, fostering a collaborative environment that cultivates exceptional engineering talent.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Strategic Resource Allocation: Collaborate with leadership to strategically allocate engineering resources across projects based on complexity and priority, ensuring the successful execution of Vantage’s development goals.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in engineering practices. Build and lead a highly skilled engineering team, providing the necessary resources and support for success. Mentor subject matter experts and promote their professional growth.
  • Project Management & Execution: Guide the engineering team through the entire lifecycle of Vantage’s Mainland EU expansion projects, from initial planning and design through to commissioning, working closely with the design manager and delivery director. Ensure that all engineering activities meet quality standards. Support the design manager and delivery director in making key engineering decisions and managing internal resources. Ensure the successful integration and execution of engineering tasks within the broader project framework.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Serve as a key point of contact for engineering inquiries and escalations. Coordinate seamlessly with cross-functional teams for smooth project delivery. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on development objectives. Support sales in customer engagement and ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality engineering work by reviewing deliverables and collaborating across teams. Implement and maintain high-quality engineering support throughout project phases.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures, document lessons learned for future use, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with leadership to strategically plan resource allocation based on project complexity.
  • Travel for On-Site Support: Be prepared to travel across Mainland Europe to provide on-site support.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline or engineering management from an accredited university or college, required. · 5+ years of experience in a management role required; 7+ years preferred.
  • Data Center experience is required. · MEP (mechanical, electrical, public health) engineering knowledge as well as experience is construction is required.
  • Additional knowledge in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) is advantageous.
  • Familiar with engineering analysis tools such as ETAP, 6Sigma CFD software, etc. · Familiar with Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems such as Revit, including the process of workflow, design authoring, and model/design delivery.
  • Proficient in the design, development, and commissioning stages, with the ability to understand and interpret project and construction timelines effectively.
  • Travel required is expected to be 35 to 50%
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively work with present information to management, operations, sales engineering, and finance
